Welcome to the official website of the Study Group on the Genetics of Diabetes (SGGD).
The SGGD was founded in Málaga in 2007 during a pivotal moment in diabetes genetics marked by genome-wide association studies (GWAS) and major breakthroughs in monogenic diabetes gene discovery. SGGD emerged as a dedicated international community for scientists and clinicians to share research and advance understanding of the genetics of diabetes. Our goal is to foster collaborative research, support young scientists, and advance translational genetics in diabetes.
The SGGD was established to provide a dedicated forum for scientists studying the genetic and genomic determinants of diabetes. This includes:
Mission: To promote high-quality, collaborative research into the genetic basis of diabetes and support the application of this knowledge in clinical care.
SGGD thanks all past and present committee members, meeting organizers and participants who have helped shape the field of diabetes genetics through this community since 2007.
